Mr. Deryl Maxwell joins the Mt. Calvary staff as principal in July 2021 and was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from high school in 1980, he attended and then graduated from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a minor in Physical Education in 1985. In 1996, Mr. Maxwell earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Irvine. He has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and principal in his 35+ years in Lutheran Education. For the last several years, Mr. Maxwell has served as an athletic director and assistant principal at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Orange. Mr. Maxwell is married to Susan Maxwell, who has served as an elementary teacher in Lutheran schools for 35 years.  They have two children.  Joe works at a local engineering company and is married to Cassidy, a junior accountant.  Liz is a 4th grade at Portland Christian Schools and is married to Kevin Hohnstadt, who serves as the lead pastor at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Happy Valley, Oregon.  They have two daughters, Charlotte Rose and Lucille Ruth.
