Dear Mt Calvary New Families,
By now, you have hopefully been made aware of the new “start date” of instruction, which is now Wednesday, August 26th. We are not certain at this time if our lower grade classes will meet on-line or in person, as we continue to await a response of our request for a waiver from the LA County Health Department. We know, Middle School students, Grade 6-8 will begin the year on-line.
However we begin instruction for the coming year, there are some “usual activities” that we host so that we can connect with new families. We want to be able to get to know you, and share needed information as you get ready to start your journey at Mt Calvary.
Please note the items below that pertain to you and your family:
Teddy Bear Tea – A gathering which gives specific information for the incoming Kindergarten student, and for this year—only one parent, so that we can practice social distancing. It will be hosted by our Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Hobbs, with input from Ms Ann Lovell our School Secretary, and School Principal, Dr. Christopher. Students will be able, on a one-by-one basis, to visit the room with their parent and Mrs. Hobbs. They will be able to see their desk, take a picture, and receive a “goodie bag” from Mrs. Hobbs.
New Date: Monday—August 17th 6:30-7:30 pm Outside in the Quad and patio area near the Kindergarten Room, so that we can practice “social distancing.” Limited to just one parent per child in attendance.
New Parent Orientation – A gathering of parents who will have children attending Mt Calvary for the very first time. Information about the purpose and core values of our school is discussed, along with details of day-to-day operations, calendar items, and introductions of key Mt Calvary staff.
New Date: Tuesday—August 18th from 7-8 pm via ZOOM. An email will come to all new parents 24 hours ahead of the meeting, with a link to join the Zoom meeting. If you do not have a Zoom account – currently they are still free, please go to zoom.us/freesignup/ to set up your account.
Thanks for your understanding an support as we make these “adjustments” during this time of Covid.
Peace and Joy!
