SPECIAL NOTICE – We Are Opening Online

Dear MCL Families,

Every day, there seem to be new developments as we move toward the start of instruction later this month.
Here is the latest news…

Wavier Denied   We were recently informed by our contact in the LA County Health Department that our request for a special waiver to hold K-8 school on-campus has been denied.  LA County is not granting waivers for on-campus schooling at this time due to Covid-19.

K-8 Classes will all start School On-line   Since we did not obtain the waiver, it means that our entire elementary school, Grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, will start school on-line on August 26th. Our teachers are working hard to assure that the same curriculum that students would have on-campus will be delivered on-line, so that when the time comes and we return to campus that it will be a seamless transition.

Classroom Appointments   To help us prepare for the coming school year, our team of teachers has set aside a 3-hour time block from Noon—3 pm, each day on August 19th, 20th and 21st for children and parents to schedule appointments to come to the MCL campus.

These scheduled appointments will allow for children and parents to meet with their teacher in the classroom, obtain needed textbooks, workbooks, discuss the on-class schedule and student (and parent) expectations, receive other needed learning materials, and sign-out a Chromebook (if necessary for distance learning).

Special Appointment Sign-up Process   You will receive in the next day or so, an invitation to sign-up for your appointment electronically through SignUpGenius. Please do not discard this email when it arrives, or assume it is junk-email. Access to this process will allow you to schedule this vital appointment easily, especially if you have multiple children in your family and need to visit more than one classroom.  Keep an eye out for your invitation to schedule your appointment!

During these scheduled appointments, we will require parents and children to wear a mask and keep a safe social distance from one another while on the Mt Calvary campus.  Also, the MCL Office will remain open during this time, if you need to take care of any business transactions.

Day Care Option  We will continue to develop a plan where K-8 families who need child care, can bring their student to MCL, have them under the supervision of SAC Staff as they receive “on-line” instruction from their Mt Calvary teacher. For more information click HERE.

Continue to Pray    During these tough times, we have an opportunity to “bear one another’s burdens” as we talk, support, care, and pray for each other. As a community of faith, we can find strength in one another, our families, and the extended family called Mt Calvary Lutheran School.  Can we pray every evening from 8:00—8:01 pm? Or longer?

In His Service and yours,

Dr. Steven L. Christopher, Principal
